Joro Spider Toxin (JSTX) is derived from the venom of Nephila clavata and consists of three active principles of similar chemical structure and function. Each of these components has been found to be a potent antagonist of neurotransmitter receptors. Wako offers JSTX-3, a chemical of low molecular weight which selectively inhibits excitatory synaptic transmission by blocking quisqualate-sensitive L-glutamate receptors. The high degree of specificity JSTX-3 exhibits makes it an especially valuable tool for the study of neurological disorders and for the research of excitatory neurotranmitter mechanisms. Preparation: Synthesize Joro spider (Nephila clavata) toxin JSTX-3, prepared in lyophilized powder.
